Named after the Lismore Block, one of the estate’s original vineyard sites, this wine represents Ata Rangi’s commitment to elegance and balance. Fruit is hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed, with fermentation split between stainless steel and seasoned oak barrels to enhance complexity and texture. A portion undergoes wild ferment and is left on lees for several months. The resulting style is dry, layered, and quietly powerful—more akin to Alsace than Italy.
Bouquet
Lifted and aromatic, the bouquet offers ripe pear, quince, and baked apple, woven with floral notes of orange blossom and jasmine. Hints of cinnamon, almond skin, and citrus peel add sophistication and savoury nuance.
Palate
Dry, structured, and refined. The palate reveals juicy orchard fruit wrapped in a creamy lees texture, with fine acidity and a subtle mineral thread. Spice and delicate phenolics give shape and longevity. It’s a Pinot Gris that walks the line between richness and restraint with absolute grace.
Food Pairing
Pair with roast chicken and tarragon cream, seared scallops with pancetta, or an autumnal salad with pear and blue cheese. Also lovely with mild Asian-inspired dishes and herb-laced vegetarian plates.
Cellaring
Drinking well now, but will cellar gracefully for 5–7 years, developing honeyed tones, nuttiness, and savoury depth while retaining balance and structure.
