This 2024 Rare Batch release from the Isle of Arran is a standout limited-edition 15-year-old single malt, peated and matured entirely in sherry casks, then bottled at a bold 54.4% ABV. Crafted without chill filtration and natural in colour, it offers a rare glimpse into the smokier side of Arran’s typically unpeated profile. Only a handful of barrels were selected for this release, making it a must-have for collectors and adventurous whisky lovers alike.
Bouquet Dark and smoky with aromas of dried fig, treacle, BBQ smoke, roasted nuts, and hints of leather and cigar box. Complex and brooding.
Palate Full-bodied and robust. Flavours of spiced plum, burnt toffee, bitter chocolate, and smoked oak swirl together over a chewy malt base. Layers of sweet sherry richness meet dry, earthy peat, leading to a long, warming finish with peppery spice and charred fruit.
Food Pairing Perfect with grilled venison, smoked brisket, or rich fruitcake. Also excellent with dark chocolate or a strong blue cheese.
Cellaring Drinking beautifully now but will develop added complexity with time. Store upright in a cool, dark place and enjoy over the next 10+ years.
Interesting Fact This peated Arran is a rare exception to the distillery’s usually unpeated style. The smoky richness combined with sherry cask influence makes it one of the most exciting and collectible Arran releases to date.
