Sourced from organically farmed vines on the shores of Lake Hayes, just outside Queenstown, Amisfield Pinot Gris 2023 is a beautifully structured and expressive wine shaped by the alpine climate and schist-laced soils of Central Otago. Fruit is hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel with a portion in seasoned oak, followed by extended lees contact to build creamy texture and aromatic depth. A portion of wild ferment brings subtle complexity to this off-dry, Alsace-inspired style.
Bouquet
Fragrant and poised, the nose opens with nashi pear, quince, and ripe white peach, lifted by citrus blossom and hints of ginger spice. A subtle thread of almond and crushed stone adds quiet complexity and refinement.
Palate
Textural and flowing, the palate offers ripe orchard fruit wrapped in creamy lees richness. Ginger, clove, and soft mineral notes provide depth, while the balanced acidity ensures a fresh, dry finish. A wine that delivers both weight and grace with every sip.
Food Pairing
Exceptional with duck and pear salad, grilled fish with fennel, or miso-glazed aubergine. Also perfect with alpine cheeses or pork dishes with subtle spice.
Cellaring
Drinking beautifully now for its vibrant fruit and texture, but can cellar for 5–6 years, gaining honeyed notes, nutty depth, and savoury complexity with time.
