Distilled in Auckland by the artisan team at 1919 Distilling, this small-batch gin pays tribute to New Zealand’s spirited history—its name a nod to the year prohibition was narrowly voted down. Crafted using a traditional copper pot still, the spirit is vapour-infused with a thoughtfully chosen mix of classic and native botanicals. Juniper provides the backbone, while Manuka honey, clove, and cardamom bring an aromatic warmth, and locally foraged orange and lemon peel lift the gin with bright citrus character.
Bouquet: Fresh, herbaceous and delicately spiced. Notes of orange zest and lemon blossom lead, followed by earthy juniper, warm cinnamon, and a subtle undercurrent of Manuka honey.
Palate: Beautifully balanced and smooth. Citrus and spice unfold gracefully, layered with silky florals and a light sweetness from the native honey. The juniper remains present without overpowering, giving way to a soft, lingering finish with hints of clove and peppercorn.
Food Pairing: Perfect in a classic G&T with a wedge of orange or paired with a splash of elderflower tonic. Try alongside fresh oysters, citrus-cured salmon, or herb-crusted chicken for a sensational match.
Cellaring: This gin is designed for fresh enjoyment. Store in a cool, dark place and enjoy within two years of opening for optimal vibrancy.
