Winemaking Church Road's Grand Reserve Syrah is made from hand-selected fruit grown in the Bridge Pa Triangle and Gimblett Gravels—Hawke’s Bay’s most celebrated Syrah subregions. The 2022 vintage saw whole bunch inclusion for aromatic complexity and structure, followed by maturation in fine French oak. The result is a powerful, expressive Syrah that blends richness with elegance.
Bouquet Perfumed aromas of dark plum, boysenberry, and blackcurrant, layered with cracked pepper, violet, clove, and subtle smoky oak.
Palate Full-bodied and finely structured, with ripe black fruit, spice, and savoury undertones. Silky tannins and bright acidity drive a long, balanced finish. A polished expression with real depth and finesse.
Food Pairing Ideal with chargrilled lamb, roast duck, mushroom Wellington, or slow-cooked beef. A wine for both refined dining and rich, comforting dishes.
Cellaring Approachable now with a decant, and will reward cellaring over 8–12 years with increasing complexity and texture.
Interesting Fact Church Road’s Grand Reserve range showcases only the best parcels in exceptional vintages—crafted to highlight regional character and cellar potential, and always made in small quantities.
