Château Magnol Haut-Médoc Appellation Haut-Médoc Contrôlée, Bordeaux
Tasting Note: A benchmark expression of the Left Bank, Château Magnol offers a deep, brilliant cherry-red hue with glints of purple. The nose is strikingly expressive, layered with blackcurrant, black cherry, crushed spice, and wild sage, uplifted by a cool menthol freshness.
On the palate, this wine is harmoniously structured and full-bodied, showcasing polished tannins and a rich, savoury core. Flavours of ripe dark fruits, warm spice, and subtle oak unfold into a lingering finish marked by hints of vanilla, liquorice, and a refined mineral edge.
Vineyard & Winemaking: Crafted from low-yielding vines on sand and gravel soils near Bordeaux city, the wine is made with minimal intervention to respect the natural ripening of the fruit. Fermentation takes place at 30°C with extended maceration, followed by 12 months' maturation in French oak barrels (30% new).
Serving & Food Pairing: Best served at 16–18°C. A perfect match for red meats, Pyrenees cheese with black cherry jam, or walnut bread. For a decadent pairing, try it with dark chocolate desserts.
Accolades (2020 Vintage): Platinum Medal – 97 Points, Decanter World Wine Awards 91–92 Points, James Suckling 90+ Points, Markus Del Monego, Best Sommelier of the World
